Puxi grade One: The Chinese Characters I Know

“The Chinese Characters I Know” – the project currently on display in the hallway – has caught the attention of many students and teachers. To do this project, our students have tried multiple means of searching for the Chinese characters they know – in newspapers, magazines, and even on food packages. They cut the characters out and glued them on various kinds of paper, using neat layouts, different topics, and creative designs. The teachers had to make hard decisions to pick the most outstanding ones. The requirements for this project were very different from those of previous projects. Students were not provided with any template; instead, they made decisions themselves and created their own frames and backgrounds. This helped tremendously to bring their imagination and designing talents into full play.
