Pu Xi Grade 2: R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Initiatives

September 8, 2013

As an important member of our learning community here at SHSID, throughout the First Semester, students in the second grade will be learning about, and rewarded for demonstrating, the core values of the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. initiative (Responsible, Etiquette, Support, Polite, Engaged, Creative, Tidy). Teachers will work with students to develop their understanding of positive character traits which will help them in the second grade and beyond! Students will continually be reminded of these positive traits and will be rewarded for helping and supporting their peers along the way.

Each time a student’s positive efforts are noticed, the student will receive a checkmark from their homeroom teacher. When the student has received three checkmarks for a particular character value/trait, they will be rewarded an airplane that is to be placed in the hallway for their school peers to see. Each plane will have the student’s name and classroom number on it, and will be color coordinated to connect with one of the values/traits (EX Blue = Responsible, Green = Polite, etc.).

This is not a competition, but an opportunity for these students to better themselves as contributing members of their school and home community. Students will be rewarded with their classmates when whole-grade objectives are met. You will see 7 different colors airplanes represented 7 particular character values/traits flying in SHSID primary building.
