Grade 2 :Donation Activity

Accompanied by teachers and some parents, 50 students from grade 2 went to Dabie Mountains Primary School for the children of migrant workers on May 14. The donation ceremony was held at 2 p.m. in staff club. First, principle Ye made a speech to express her gratitude. Then on behalf of Grade 2, Ms. Chris said, we donated 10,000 Yuan to help them purchase some facilities for Huayi Bros. movie classroom. We sincerely hoped that it could bring them convenience, better environment and more advanced teaching resources, so that they could learn better and live more happily. After that, the student representative of our school handed the money to theirs. The PTSA also donated some rulers.

An exciting interactive activity took place soon after the ceremony. First, story mommies read a story called Officer Buckle and Gloria. In this story, the two characters were loved by people because they were best partners. Children were so attracted by this story that they were very attentive. Mommies hoped that this story could tell them the importance of respect, love and acceptance. Besides, team work requires every member to participate. Everyone has different abilities, and we should do what we are good at and learn to cooperate with each other. In order to make children better understand that, they gave out some colorful papers. The task was to keep folding the piece of paper until it became a small square. Each student should only use one hand. One SHSID student and one child of migrant workers should work as partners. It seemed easy to fold paper, but it turned out to be very difficult because cooperation was needed. At first, children would use both of their hands. Yet after story mommies reminded them of the rule, they gradually collaborated with each other better and worked faster. Soon many children raised hands to show that mission complete. After that, they were no longer strangers. They smiled at each other as if they had already become good partners. So far Donation Activity came to an end. At 3 p.m., the students and teachers of our school returned to SHSID.
