7th grade debating team returned victoriously!

After two weeks of hard work and planning, all was ready and set for the debate competition that was held at SMIC on Monday, March the 25th, 2013. Our debate teams excitedly and anxiously filed in to the buses and left our campus on Monday afternoon. When they arrived at SMIC, they were prepared and waiting for their opponents. The first round at 6:30 p.m. was mostly composed of the juniors (7-8th graders) and the second round at 7:30 p.m. was mostly composed of the seniors (9-10 graders). After two hours of tough debates between the teams of Concordia, SMIC and our teams, the results were out!

7(4) Jeffrey Tseng, 7(10) Michael Fan, 7(11) Hanson Wang defeated the Concordia debating team.

7(1) Cindy Zhao, 7(2) Elicia Ye, 7(3) Sophia She defeated the SMIC debating team.

Hanson Wang from the 7(11) won the best speaker award.

Though not everyone won but everyone left SMIC with something memorable and a lesson learnt. Congratulations to the people who claimed the speaker awards and to the teams who were victorious. From the teams of SHSID they would like to thank their teachers for organizing such a memorable debate and allowing them to gain more experience in debating. And they would also like to thank SMIC for contributing the time and space and to the judges, timekeepers and to the chairs mans for providing such a wonderful chance for them.
