8th Grade Student Representatives Visit the Royal Thai Consulate-General of Shanghai

To increase our knowledge of traditions of foreign countries, Shanghai’s Educational Committee hosted the “hundreds of students visiting Consulates of foreign countries in Shanghai” activity, which started on 12th, October. As one of the few schools invited to join this activity, six students from eighth and ninth grade of SHSID, along with several other students from two other schools, visited the Royal Thai Consulate-General of Shanghai.

The Thai consul general showed us hospitality of all Thai people by giving us the welcoming speech. Then, through a short PPT, they taught us the basic information about Thailand, including politics, geography, history, language, etc. Afterwards, they kindly provided us with extremely delicious Thai noodles and desserts. According to Jasmine 8 (5), the dessert made of coconut was the only coconut product she liked! They also hosted a Q&A section. We sang the song “We are Young” by fun as well. Students from the two other schools showed their talent through calligraphy and instrument-playing.

At last, after exchanging gifts, we returned home happily. This visit widened our view of the world and pulled us closer to interesting traditions of foreign countries.
