Two students of Grade 12 entered the Semifinalists of National Merit Scholarship Competition
In September, the officials of National Merit Scholariship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Lui, Andrew H. and Pi, Danielle R. from 12(1) entered the Semifinalists. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth than $32 million that will be offered next spring and these scholarship recipients will join more than 291,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title. This year, about 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high school entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2011 PSAT. The nationalwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S high school seniors, includes the highedst scoring entrants in each state. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Fianlist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit $2,500 Scholariship, earning the Merit Scholar title. Congratulations to them and wish them good luck in the further competition.
