Grade 7:ROOTS & SHOOTS VISIT

On Monday, May 5th, eight people from seventh grade paid a special visit to the Roots & Shoots main office in the Oceans tower, Shanghai. Roots & Shoots is a non-profit international organization that focuses a lot on helping to improve the environment and going green. The main purpose of the trip was to donate the money from our charity fair to the Million Tree Project, where we will add an additional 500 trees to our 1,000 tree SHSID forest. As we walked in the office with people busily scuttling around, we felt that we were probably starting something between SHSID and the Roots & Shoots group. Indeed, after we took some memorable pictures and learned about this organization and its activities, we started discussing what our school should do. One of the ideas that came up was to make a Roots & Shoots group in our middle school section that could provide environmental friendly activities such as recycling or planting a garden. This trip was a unique experience and we hope that we can all try to make the school even greener after this trip. Let’s all go green!
