Amherst College Open Information Session
On June 14th, Amherst College held a public information session at Shanghai High School International Division. The information session was hosted by Dr. Matthew McGann, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, and Dr. Xiaofeng Wan, Associate Dean of Admission and Coordinator of International Recruitment. It is worth mentioning that this was Dr. McGann's first visit to China on behalf of Amherst College. In their busy schedule, they specifically chose to visit SHSID to interact with students and parents from various schools.
At the beginning of the presentation, Dr. McGann and Dr. Wan showcased the beautiful campus of Amherst College, its unique liberal arts education philosophy, and its diverse curriculum. They also explained the college's application process and financial aid policies. The remaining time was dedicated to Q&A, allowing students and parents to ask questions, which were answered in detail by the two admission officers. This enabled the audience to gain a more comprehensive understanding of this prestigious and historically renowned liberal arts college.
Representatives from the eleventh grade, dressed in volunteer uniforms designed by the students themselves, served as assistants during the presentation. SHSID has always been committed to promoting student diversity and long-term development. In the future, the school will continue to create more extensive and diverse platforms, providing students with more opportunities to showcase themselves and broaden their horizons.
