Guests from University of Pennsylvania Visit Shanghai High School
On the morning of July 15th, two guests from the Global Initiative program at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr Amy Gadsden, Associate Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and Executive Director of Penn China Initiatives, and Lily Zhang, Director of International Student and Scholar Services, visited Shanghai High School. Under the careful arrangement of Zhang Li, High School Vice Principal of Shanghai High School International Division, the guests first stepped into the campus full of modern atmosphere and profound cultural heritage, and visited campus facilities such as the Art Center, the western campus, and labs on the first floor of the Engineering Building. Subsequently, the group moved to the meeting room on the second floor of the administrative building and had in-depth exchanges with Zhang Zehong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai High School, and Ma Feng, High School Principal of Shanghai High School International Division. At the meeting, both sides introduced the development history, teaching characteristics, and diverse student activities of the University of Pennsylvania, Shanghai High School, and Shanghai High School International Division, showcasing their outstanding achievements and innovative spirit in education.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Gadsden has an inseparable bond with Shanghai High School. She recalled that in 1993, as a Yale undergraduate student, she was fortunate enough to participate in the summer English summer camp organized by the Shanghai High School. During that time, she not only formed deep friendships with Chinese high school students, but also gained a more intuitive and profound understanding of Chinese education. This time returning to Shanghai High School, she was deeply moved and expressed sincere appreciation for the significant progress made by Shanghai High School and Shanghai High School International Division in recent years.
To commemorate this extraordinary visit, Secretary Zhang Zehong, on behalf of the school, presented a carefully prepared history book of the school to the guests. This book not only records the glorious history of the past century, but also carries the school's unremitting pursuit and beautiful vision for the education industry. In addition, the event also invited several rising seniors from the international division to actively participate. They raised many questions to the guests regarding the studies and career development programs at the University of Pennsylvania, and received patient and detailed answers from the guests.
This exchange activity not only deepened the friendship and cooperation between the University of Pennsylvania and Shanghai High School, but also laid a solid foundation for further exchanges and cooperation in the field of education between the two sides.
