Congratulations! Rowing Stallions' Excellent Performance at 2024 Head of Shanghai River Regatta
In the 2024 Head of Shanghai River Regatta held on the afternoon of September 28, the Rowing Stallions from Shanghai High School stood out from the fierce competition of five renowned high school teams in Shanghai with their excellent performance, winning 3rd place in the 500-meter City Sprint men's quadruple sculls (junior) and achieving a total time of 3 min 56.69 sec in the mixed quadruple sculls event. This year's River Regatta is on a grand scale, and recieved live broadcast by EastDay and Great Sports. The Rowing Stallions, being established for just over a year, has grown at an astonishing pace. Their performance in competitions vividly exemplifies the unyielding spirit and pursuit of excellence that SHSID students embody in the face of challenges.
Sweat casts brilliant achievements, and the Rowing Stallions breaks through the waves
Following the successful establishment and active participation in the junior exhibition games in Shanghai River Regatta last year, the Rowing Stallions not only retained the spirit of fearless and courageous progress, but also ushered in new development opportunities and challenges in the new year. The Rowing Stallions, driven by their deep love and pursuit of water sports, once again set sail amidst the undulating waves. During training, under the scorching sun, they sweat profusely and are not afraid of difficulties; on the sparkling water, they worked together and forged ahead courageously.
Passionate sailing, the rowing team showcases the spirit of SHS
Behind every remarkable achievement of the Shanghai High School Rowing Stallions lies the hard work and dedication of the team members, the selfless contribution of the coaches, and the wholehearted support from the school. On the day of the competition, Zhang Zehong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai High School, SHSID High School Principal Ma Feng, SHSID High School Vice Principal Liu Min, and SHSID High School Principal Assistant and Director of the Student Center Liu Qin, were present at the scene to cheer on the team members. Before the race, Principal Ma attended the team’s pep rally, where his words felt like a warm spring breeze. He praised the team’s spirit and perseverance, igniting every participant's fighting spirit and passion and providing a strong psychological boost for the upcoming competition.
As the starting whistle blew, the Rowing Stallions shot forward like an arrow, quickly slicing through the water toward the finish line. On the shore, the SHSID cheerleading squad—made up of students, teachers, and parents—created a vibrant scene. They waved colorful flags and banners, energizing the team with their enthusiastic cheers. Despite the fierce competition, the Stallions displayed their fighting spirit on the water.
Rowing unfolds its charm, and diversified sports build youthful dreams together
We would like to express our gratitude to the organizing committee for their invitation and careful preparations, which have brought together the Rowing Stallions, international top rowing teams, and elite teams from various schools along the Suzhou Creek, showcasing the vibrant youthfulness of sports. As representatives of the emerging rowing force, the Rowing Stallions were interviewed by media outlets such as EastDay after the race. The team members also had the honor of presenting signed team uniforms to the invited international elite rowing teams—representatives of the University of Cambridge Rowing Team and the Oxford Brookes University Rowing Team, engaging in close exchanges and taking photos together, conveying the motivation to learn from role models and keep moving forward.

The Rowing Stallions upholds the spirit of "Nurturing Elites with Joy" and forges ahead on the youthful track. Meanwhile, the school adheres to the educational philosophy of all-round development, encouraging students to showcase their individuality and talents in various fields. In the future, let's look forward to witnessing the outstanding performances of SHSID students on more fields and stages.
