Grade 11 Assembly: Knowing More about Media Literacy

In the morning of October 17, 2024, the 11th-grade students of SHSID gathered at the Xianmian Building Annex, attending the weekly assembly. 


Ms. Yu took the stage to give a speech on media literacy. Ms. Yu first explained the speech's rationale. This drew the students’ attention to the importance of media literacy, as many were eager to improve their media usage. Ms. Yu then elaborated on the definition of media literacy and on determining whether a source of information reflects sufficient media literacy. Then, she expanded on the school’s guidelines, addressing many fundamental yet important rules on using media and socializing online. The students were advised to protect their personal information online and to respect others in appropriate ways. Ms. Yu concluded the speech by reminding the students that our lives nowadays are filled with media and that media literacy is crucial to becoming a master in the use of it. Through this speech, the students reflected on themselves and learned valuable lessons on effectively improving their interaction with media.
