SHSID Girls’ Lacrosse Team Won National Championship
November 17, 2024—Fantastic news from Chengdu! The SHSID Girls’ Lacrosse Team has claimed the national championship in the U18 Women’s Division at the 2024 National Lacrosse Championship Cup, held in Dujiangyan, Chengdu.
The tournament, which ran from November 15 to 17, brought together 33 elite teams and over 400 athletes from across China. The games followed the international six-a-side lacrosse rules, providing a high-level competitive platform.
The SHSID team delivered an outstanding performance during the group stage on November 15 and 16, showcasing skill, determination, and teamwork to achieve an undefeated record and advance to the knockout rounds. They opened the playoffs with a commanding 29-0 victory, demonstrating their offensive dominance. In their second match, the team faced Beijing BNDS, which included two players from China’s U20 Women’s National Team. Despite the tough competition, SHSID showed resilience and narrowly secured a thrilling 6-5 win. In the final group-stage match, SHSID faced physically stronger and faster opponents. The team quickly adapted their strategy, focusing on ball control to regain control of the game. They ended with a decisive 14-3 victory, finishing as group leaders and advancing to the finals.
In the finals on November 17, the SHSID Stallions showcased extraordinary determination and skill to claim a hard-fought victory. After challenging round-robin matches, both teams refined their strategies to counter each other's strengths. The opposing side, bolstered by youth national players, launched a relentless offensive with impressive individual plays. However, the Stallions' goalkeeper stood firm, making a series of crucial saves that kept the game in balance. Building on this defensive foundation, the Stallions regained momentum, adjusted their tempo, and dominated the crucial moments. With an exceptional all-around performance, they secured a thrilling 7-5 triumph and proudly hoisted the championship trophy.
Congratulations to the SHSID Girls’ Lacrosse Team for their incredible achievement! A huge thank you to the PE teachers, Grades 9-10 faculty, and parents who supported the team throughout the journey. Go Stallions! We look forward to more amazing accomplishments from the SHSID Stallions in the future!
