Music Department: SHSID Tenth Theater Festival Closed with Splendor

The closing ceremony of the Tenth Theater Festival of Shanghai High School International Division was held in the Music and Drama Center Black Box Theater at 4:40 PM on November 25, 2024, and marked a brilliant conclusion to our week-long celebration of theater. This vibrant event attracted numerous drama enthusiasts and featured a diverse collection of theatrical works that offered spectators an extraordinary aural and visual experience.

This year’s festival showcased a wide range of productions, blending timeless classics with innovative adaptations and original creations. Performances ranged from the musical "Six", the Chinese historical drama "Mulan", to Shakespearean plays such as "The Comedy of Errors" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream", all of which exemplified theater’s profound literary depth and artistic resonance. Works like "A Dream of Red Mansions: Xiangling Learning Poetry" and the original mathematical drama "Exploring the Nine Chapters" seamlessly integrated traditional culture with modern creativity. Other highlights included "The Wizard of Oz", "Hi, Mom", and "Les Misérables", each delivering heartfelt performances that showcased the transformative power of stage plays.

The award ceremony, held after the performances, announced honors across categories, such as Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Play. Experts praised the festival’s significance regarding youth theater education, commending the students for their passionate performances, insightful interpretations of theatrical art and exceptional ability to learn and innovate.
