High School Math: High School Students Performed Well in Berkeley Math Tournament

The 13th annual Berkeley Math Tournament (BMT) China Regional was held in Beijing, China, from November 30th to December 1st, 2024. As a contest from the Department of Mathematics at the prestigious university, UC Berkeley, this competition has always enjoyed high visibility and popularity, attracting hundreds of teams to participate each year with its interesting, original, and appealing activities. Particularly in this year, BMT China held a wide series of fascinating activities, from the exciting and competitive individual contest to the attractive and unique math social activities, underscoring the importance of not only one’s mathematics skills but also team cooperation and adapting abilities while inspiring numerous contestants in their math-learning experiences.


In this year's Berkeley Math Tournament, SHSID High School had 13 students participating, with 11 of them from the 9th grade. Through thorough preparation, our students performed excellently in all competitions. 3 students received the high distinction award in the General Round, 3 students received the high distinction award in the Discrete Round, 2 students received the high distinction award in the Geometry Round, and 1 student received the high distinction award in the Algebra Round. Furthermore, one of our students finished in the top 3 in BMT China and the top 10 in the BMT International rankings! In the team competitions, SHSID High School received one Team Guts Round high distinction award and one Team Overall high distinction award.





Congratulations to the winners and all participants of this year's Berkeley Math Tournament. We extend our gratitude to the parents and teachers for their diligent support behind the scenes. May our students continue to bravely scale new heights in future math competitions, achieving brilliant success, bringing glory to SHSID, and securing their own outstanding future!
