High School Math: SHSID Students Shine at DMMC China and Secure Tickets to the Global Summit

June 9, 2025

On May 31, 2025, the Duke Math Meet China (DMMC) kicked off at Duke Kunshan University. This summit is highly challenging and attracts many strong teams every year. The innovative competition format also offers participating students a new academic experience.

In mid-March, over twenty SHSID high school students participated in the DMMC campus test. After intense competition, our school successfully advanced to the finals with the second-highest total score in China. Eight students stood out and formed SHSID’s DMMC representative team.

The competition in the DMMC finals was intense, with only the top three teams qualifying to attend the November summit at Duke University in the United States. Challenges included poster defense, a team relay, individual challenges, and the Blue Devil Challenge, which tested students' teamwork, logical thinking, and adaptability. Our students fought bravely on the ”battlefield”, winning the Best Visual Design Award in the poster defense round, with 7 students ranking in the top 30% in the individual round, 4 students advancing to the top 10%, and 1 student winning the Silver Award in the individual competition. Ultimately, our team secured a top-two score and earned the opportunity to participate in the global summit in the United States. This achievement not only affirms the hard work of the students but also serves as a strong testament to the success of our school's math education, inspiring more students to engage in math learning and exploration.

Congratulations to all the participating students! We sincerely thank the instructors for their dedicated support and guidance! We look forward to the students continuing to excel in the next round of competition and achieving even greater success!
