August 26, 2025

On August 21, the 4th Shanghai Secondary School Mathematics Academic Exhibition and Evaluation Competition concluded successfully. At this grand event gathering numerous young mathematics elites, the Team 1 from SHSID High School, composed of six students, stood out with their exceptional mathematical problem-solving skills and seamless teamwork, securing the top honor of the team first prize.

This year’s Mathematics Academic Exhibition and Evaluation Competition was organized and hosted by the Shanghai Teacher Institute. It attracted the enthusiastic participation of 77 high school teams from cities such as Shanghai, Wuxi, and Hangzhou. The event was vibrant and engaging, featuring in-depth presentations and intense debates on long-term problems, as well as fun individual contests and thrilling team competitions on instant challenges. These activities comprehensively tested the participants’ mathematical literacy and skills.

Justin, the captain of Team 1 from SHSID High School, is a seasoned participant who has competed in this academic exhibition for three consecutive years. After the competition, he shared passionately, "The exhibition has always been a stage we are deeply passionate about. It is not only incredibly fun but also places high demands on participants’ foundational knowledge in mathematics and programming. The long-term problems are often closely tied to mathematical games. For instance, this year’s two problems revolved around a special calculator and a coloring game, respectively—both thought-provoking and offering us excellent opportunities to hone our mathematical reasoning and expression skills."

It is hoped that more students will actively participate in this competition in the future, delving into the rigor and fun of mathematics while further enhancing their mathematical literacy and overall capabilities.
