Model United Nations (MUN) is a competitive and collaborative activity that simulates the workings of the United Nations, where students play the roles of delegates advocating for the goals of different nations and organizations. Established in 2008, the International Affairs Association (IAA) is SHSID’s high school MUN club and one of the oldest clubs at SHSID. In its history, they’ve won a total of 38 Delegation awards and 556 individual awards. In the past months of the 2024-2025 school year, the IAA attended a total of 5 conferences and won 81 individual awards, breaking the club record and winning the title of Five Star Club. These conferences are:

Aug. 2024 – 2024 Harvard MUN China (Guangzhou) – Best Large Delegation

Dec. 2024 – MUN UChicago SFLS – Best Delegation

Jan.-Feb. 2025 – Harvard MUN Boston

Apr. 2025 – Oxford Global SHSID MUN – Best Delegation

May 2025 – Yale MUN China (Shenzhen) – Best Delegation

Overall, the IAA Club is truly proud of the achievements and growth of its members during the 2024–2025 school year. This semester, the club will begin training for the new conference season. Furthermore, the IAA plans to introduce international relations theory into the training sessions and to collaborate with college professors and experienced diplomats to offer lectures. The IAA Club aims to connect its members with real-world politics by fostering their academic capacity and critical thinking skills through consistent training.
