NHS Induction Ceremony Held

On October 16, Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) High School National Honor Society (NHS) held its 2025 Traditional Induction Ceremony, officially welcoming 18 new members into the NHS community. These students were selected for their outstanding scholarship, strong leadership, selfless service, and exceptional character, representing the four pillars of the Society.


The ceremony began with an opening address by the President of the NHS, Sophia Fang from class 12(1). In her speech, she reflected on the chapter’s history since its founding in 2019. She highlighted the major academic and service initiatives of the chapter, including Friday Movie Night, Stress Down Day, the remote teaching collaboration with Shengguo Primary School in Henan, as well as the chapter’s newest project — the “Henan Voices” bilingual storytelling initiative, led by her and the 2025–2026 leadership team. She emphasized that the spirit of the NHS lies not only in academic excellence but also in a deep sense of service and responsibility.




Following her remarks, High School Principal Mr. Ma delivered a speech themed “Human Connection in the Age of AI.” He encouraged students to maintain the warmth of face-to-face interaction in an increasingly digital world, fostering empathy and leadership through in-person volunteerism and community engagement. Afterwards, NHS Advisor Ms. Liu introduced this semester’s major project plans and outlined the responsibilities of each officer, inspiring new members to participate actively in upcoming service and leadership activities.


The ceremony concluded with all members reciting the NHS pledge together and taking a group photo to commemorate the occasion. This event not only marked the formal induction of new members but also symbolized the continued inheritance of the NHS’s four core values — Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character — among SHSID students. We look forward to seeing our members continue to shine in the coming year and carry the spirit of the NHS to even greater heights!
