Grade 9 CAS: Freshman Project Introduction

October 17, 2025

As students enter the heart of October, the Freshman Project officially launches across Grade 9, offering students both academic support and opportunities for self-discovery. This year, over 50 teachers from various subject departments joined the Housing mentorship program, each leading a student group where they will provide personalized academic guidance and organize themed group activities throughout the semester.

On October 15, during the CAS class, ninth graders were introduced to their Freshman Project by Ms. Ye from the TA Office. Centered around "WHO ARE WE AT SHSID," students from the same house will collaborate in the coming months to explore specific fields of interest and gradually build self-awareness within their community. Two groups of eleventh-grade students took the stage to present their own projects, sharing insights and experiences with the younger peers.

For the freshmen, this project goes beyond a team activity—it serves as a bridge connecting personal interests with future academic planning. Through collaborative exploration, they will not only deepen their understanding of specific fields but also develop critical thinking and communication skills, laying a solid foundation both academically and personally for their high school journey.
