Puxi Campus G8: SHSID MUN Returns Triumphant from SHAMUN

October 23, 2025

Recently, in celebration of the 160th anniversary of Shanghai High School, the SHSID Model United Nations (MUN) Club paid tribute to this historic milestone in its own way. Club members traveled to participate in the first SHAMUN conference of the school year. Bringing together students from across China, this event provided a stage where SHSID delegates showcased their remarkable talent and dedication.

From newcomers to seasoned delegates, from lobbying and negotiation to drafting resolutions, from public speaking to amendment debates, and from processing vast amounts of conference information to engaging in late-night discussions— each delegate devoted weeks of preparation and effort to this conference. By the end, they returned with new insights and invaluable experience.

Several SHSID delegates were recognized for their outstanding performance. Congratulations to Bella (8-2), Hudson (7-7), Melody (8-11), and Althea (8-1) for demonstrating exceptional leadership as main submitters; Yaya (8-11), Bella (8-2), and Cheryl (8-5) for receiving Honorable Mentions in their respective committees; and special congratulations to Melody (8-11) for earning the Best Delegate Award in the Security Council.

The theme of this year's SHAMUN— "Library of Babel"— was inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' short story of the same name. The story envisions a library of infinite rooms, infinite shelves, infinite books, and infinite languages. Through this conference, we hope our students have begun to open the doors of this vast library of knowledge, exploring infinite solutions and infinite hope. More importantly, we hope they carry this spirit of hope and global citizenship into their daily lives— understanding that collaboration, innovation, and diligence are the true forces that keep the world moving forward— and that they continue to pass on this spirit.

Finally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the student coaches and faculty advisors for their guidance and support throughout the event, and once again, wish Shanghai High School a very happy 160th anniversary!
