Grade 10 Assembly：Learning through Sports

On the October 22 sophomore assembly, Clemence and Vivian delivered a speech sharing their journey in sports. They both introduced their sports, Skiing and Squash, and shared what they had learned through various hardships they had encountered.


Clemence explained the challenges of transitioning between leisure skiing into competitive alpine ski, that the two need a completely different skillset. Also, the key to success is to work hard and learn from your mistakes. She learned that an athlete should never give up and need to overcome the fear of failure or danger. Skiing also taught her not to fear the danger of falling and just do it, and even if you fall, you need to get up and learn from it.



Vivian explained the experiences she gained from being in competitive Squash, from the hardships she endured, such as injuries, to the bountiful rewards, such as the opportunity to travel to many different countries for competitions, how to interact professionally with other athletes, and the lesson that only through persistence can you succeed. She further explained Squash’s companionship with her as she grew up, and its impact on her life and how it shaped her into a more mature, professional athlete, letting everyone see that one can learn a lot from sports.
