October 27, 2025

The lingering warmth of summer dovetails into the crisp beginnings of autumn, as the fourth and fifth graders at the Puxi Campus welcomed a diverse and dynamic Sports Week. Throughout the week, the campus was alive with the energetic presence of students, their vigorous movements not only strengthening their bodies but also forging a spirit of teamwork and perseverance. This vibrant celebration of sports added the most brilliant touch to the autumn campus.

Thursday

On Thursday, the campus buzzed with youthful energy as fourth and fifth graders kicked off the spectacular Sports Week by sporting vibrant athletic socks, sparking a wave of sunny, health-conscious sports trends across the school. The most thrilling events of the day were the two grade-level tug-of-war competitions. On the field, teammates gripped the ropes firmly, working in unison as they skillfully applied the techniques their teachers had taught them beforehand. Cheers from supporting classmates echoed around the venue, showcasing remarkable class cohesion. Regardless of the outcomes, the collaboration and perseverance demonstrated by every student vividly embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship. Additionally, fourth and fifth graders enjoyed screenings of inspirational sports films like "Young Woman and the Sea," allowing them to appreciate the multifaceted appeal of athletics. These experiences planted the seeds of unity and determination in young hearts, nurturing their growth within the collective.

Friday

Friday celebrated creativity and color during "Sports Headgear Day," where everything from classic baseball caps and vibrant cycling helmets to professional fencing masks showcased students' passion for athletics, transforming the campus into a dynamic exhibition of sports culture. The day’s fourth-grade PE classes were especially remarkable, as they turned into a "PE Talk Show" arena. Young sports stars from each class took the stage, sharing personal stories accompanied by photos and videos from their daily training. They spoke of encouraging words between teammates on the ice, persistent day-to-day practice in the swimming pool, and the thrilling moment of scoring a decisive basket in a match… Each frozen frame not only captured invaluable milestones in their growth but also served as a genuine tribute to the sporting spirit of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication. Amid laughter and applause, the students deepened their understanding of what sports truly mean and drew renewed strength to keep moving forward.

Under the careful planning and organization of the ASB members, the fifth-grade PE classes welcomed a novel "Sports Knowledge Quiz" event, which also marked the first practical task this semester for the newly appointed ASB team. They clearly explained the rules in advance, systematically categorized sports from ancient to modern and from East to West, and skillfully designed questions based on varying difficulty levels—from Cuju to soccer, from ice play to figure skating, from Chuiwan to golf... The questions were diverse and captivating. During the activity, students collaborated in teams and showcased individual talents as they eagerly vied for answers. This quiz was not only a comprehensive expansion of sports knowledge but also a cultural exploration journey across time and space. It guided students to actively engage with the long-standing sports traditions of different countries, uncovering their historical roots and developmental stories. With every quick response and moment of reflection, the students not only experienced the unique charm of various sports but also gained a deeper understanding of the persistent spirit of athletes who train diligently day after day.

Monday

On Monday, the Sports Week reached its spectacular climax with a thrilling sports meet, transforming the entire playground into a vibrant sea of excitement. Dressed in unified class T-shirts, students entered the arena as delegations from countries that have previously hosted the Olympic Games, marching in with high spirits and creativity during a remarkable "mini-Olympic" opening ceremony. Throughout the intense and well-organized competitions that followed, students fully demonstrated the athletic spirit of unity, cooperation, and determined effort. The track field echoed with seamless teamwork, while the gymnasium radiated with shared enthusiasm and synchronized progress. On the field, students not only strengthened their bodies and honed their skills but also deepened friendships and embodied the true essence of sportsmanship.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the "Sports-Themed Dress-Up Day" of Sports Week turned the school building into a vibrant fashion runway—from professional equestrian attire and sharp taekwondo uniforms to students embodying their favorite sports stars. Dressed in distinctive athletic wear, the students not only showcased the power and beauty of sports, but also expressed their aspirations to shine like their role models on future fields. Meanwhile, fourth-grade PE classes transformed into a fun challenge camp, with activities like the "Hula Hoop Relay," "Balance Ball," and "Parallel Bar Support" unfolding in succession. The venue was filled with cheers and laughter, while class "strategy teams" worked together, brainstorming tactics for each challenge. These engaging activities deepened students' understanding of sports diversity in a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, allowing them to truly experience the sense of achievement and unity that comes from teamwork.

The fifth-grade activities were equally engaging, with the outdoor basketball court divided into diverse sports challenge zones that sparked great enthusiasm among the students. In the yoga area, which tested physical coordination, students carefully followed the teacher’s demonstrations, completing each stretch and balance pose with focus, learning to pay attention to their breathing and relax both body and mind through movement. Nearby, the "Red Light, Green Light" game intensely challenged everyone's concentration and reaction speed. Meanwhile, the "Pass the Ball to the Rhythm" activity cleverly blended a sense of rhythm with teamwork, requiring students to coordinate seamlessly and collectively control the passing tempo. This diverse activity design not only comprehensively enhanced the students' physical abilities but also helped them experientially grasp the importance of focus and flexible thinking in sports—and beyond, in their academic lives as well.

Though Sports Week has come to a close, the joy of movement continues to thrive. From the collective effort in the tug-of-war to the lively fun of the knowledge quiz, every corner of the campus has been marked by traces of the students' growth. May every child carry forward this passion for sports, allowing the spirit of athletics to shine as the brightest medal on their journey ahead!
