Grades 9–10 English Speech Contest Preliminary Round Kicks Off with Confidence and Creativity

The preliminary round of the G9–10 English Speech Contest took place on Monday, October 27, beginning with a lively Pre-Contest Workshop in the B1 Theatre of the Zhongxing Building. Two senior students, last year’s winners, opened the event by sharing practical tips on public speaking.




Ms. Shen from the High School English Department then introduced the contest procedures, rules, and evaluation criteria, ensuring that all participants were well-prepared for the competition ahead.



Following the workshop, contestants headed to their designated rooms for the one-minute preliminary speeches. With topics ranging from scientific imagination to reflections on modern life, students impressed the judges with their confidence, creativity, and thoughtful delivery.








After a close and engaging round, 22 contestants were selected as finalists. Their outstanding performances showcased not only their strong English proficiency but also their ability to think critically and speak with purpose. The upcoming final round promises even more inspiring moments and brilliant speeches.
