Academic Competition: UKMT-SMC-Senior Mathematical Challenge Awards Winners

November 14, 2025

On October 2025, our students participated in the "UKMT-SMC-Senior Mathematical Challenge" either online or in their respective exam center.

The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) was founded in 1996 as a registered charity, whose aim is to advance the education of young people in math by offering a wide range of national-level competitions. UKMT organizes many mathematical challenges.

UKMT operates a comprehensive mathematics assessment system: JMC, IMC, and SMC. These are complemented by corresponding advanced assessments: JMO, CMO/HMO/MMO and BMO. The Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC) is for grade 12 or below students. It focuses on the development of students' ability to fully mobilize logical thinking and use mathematical skills to solve problems accurately and fluently, with challenging and flexible questions that usually cover key high school mathematics knowledge such as geometry, number theory, permutation and combination, and a few algebraic and problem solving, which greatly expands the mathematical horizons of the students. SMC is the assessment challenge before BMO.

A special shout out to the students from SHSID for their outstanding performance during the exam: they have won 16 Global Gold, 5 Global Silver, 1 Global Bronze, 1 Best in School, 3 Best in Year.

Congratulations to all our award-winning students! We appreciate every student’s hard work and participation in this contest. May our students continue to demonstrate their excellence and sharpen their skills in the years to come, reaching for new heights of success!
