9th Bilingual Debate Final Round Is Just Around the Corner

December 1, 2025

Recap of the Preliminary Round

In November, the 9th Bilingual Debate Competition once again took center stage across the campus. It was exciting to see many new debaters join the bilingual debate community, bringing fresh energy and creativity to the competition. After more than a month of intense rounds and intellectual exchange, the tournament is now heading toward its long-awaited final. Since its inception, the bilingual debate has aimed to strengthen communication between the two sections, and its distinctive bilingual format encourages debaters to shift seamlessly between Chinese and English, demonstrating linguistic versatility and sharp critical thinking.

Interdisciplinary Motions Sharpening Intellectual Depth

This year’s motions are both rigorous and intellectually challenging, ranging from theories of happiness and knowledge to the upcoming final themes of structuralism and deconstruction. These interdisciplinary topics require strong theoretical foundations and flexible analytical thinking. To prepare students for the competition, the committee organized a series of workshops covering literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, as well as bilingual delivery and argumentation.
