Review of the House Program Activities
This semester, the SHSID House Program continues to carry out activities during lunch time. Based on what the mentors have learned about each student through the House activities, peer sharing, personalized consultation in last semester, they designed interesting activities, lectures and outdoor activities suitable for students in Grades 9-10 to expand their interests, enrich their school life , and encourage them to explore more. This semester, mentors have assigned career exploration interview assignments and reading tasks to students, encouraging everyone to work in teams to improve communication and understand the development prospects of a particular field.
The activities of this spring are more diverse. Mr. Yu Haifeng invited experts from Shanghai Metro to give students a wonderful lecture on subway signaling and control systems, attracting many students with the interests of engineering and digital control. He also provided valuable suggestions for some students' scientific projects. Mr. Wisniewski organized students to relax and enjoy the spring sunshine in outdoor challenges. Mr. Wu Jianjing conducted a series of lectures and workshops to help students further understand the significance of art learning, the development trend of AI and music, and the broad prospects for a music career. Students enjoyed "learning by doing" in challenging the Kong Ming Lock, making spring balloon bouquets and designing moss ecological bottles. In the lectures on mythology and history, the twenty-four Jieqi, and literary knowledge trivia, the mentors effectively conveyed their deep understanding of Chinese culture to the students. The mentors also actively contacted alumni who study or work in various countries and regions to share their college life, career experience, and personal growth to help high school students enhance their self-confidence and motivation.
We hope the House Program activities designed by the mentors in the rest of this semester will attract more students to participate, helping them meet like-minded peers, make full use of the platforms provided by the school, and find a development direction that suits them the most.
