SHSID Mock Trial Club Is Thriving in the New Semester

December 15, 2025

In the first semester of the 2025 academic year, members of the SHSID Mock Trial Club delivered outstanding performances in three international competitions. On October 4-5, the club formed a team to participate in the International Mock Trial (IMT) October Tournament. As the opening event of the 2025-2026 season, this competition brought together experienced teams from both China and the United States. Ultimately, the SHSID team triumphed over strong competitors, securing third place globally and earning three individual awards (Best Attorney and Best Witness).

In mid-to-late October, the SHSID Mock Trial Club sent another team to compete in the 2025 Empire Fall Championship, widely regarded as the "World Championship" of high school mock trial. After four intense rounds of regular-season matches, the SHSID team advanced to the playoffs as the top seed and earned a perfect-score individual award. Although the team stopped in the quarterfinals, it still became the first team from China to reach the Empire Championship playoffs.

Building on their diligent refinement of courtroom advocacy skills and the continuous growth of the club's membership, on December 6-7, the SHSID Mock Trial Club sent six teams to participate in the IMT December Tournament. This was also the first competition for the new members recruited in mid-September. Despite having less than three months of experience in mock trial, their hard work in daily training, strong interest, and guidance from senior members allowed the six teams to earn a total of eight individual awards. Congratulations to them!

2025 marks the fifth year since the establishment of the SHSID Mock Trial Club. Over the past five years, the club has grown and matured, accumulating extensive experience and fostering a community of like-minded aspiring "legal minds". In domestic and international competitions, the club has achieved five national championships, four IMT championships, over 100 individual awards, and numerous other honors. At the same time, the club has provided a platform for high school students interested in law and debate to learn and grow, allowing them to experience the importance of procedural justice and the spirit of the rule of law through various simulated cases. Wishing the SHSID Mock Trial Club continued progress on the path of courtroom advocacy and the pursuit of excellence.
