Homophone Fun Game: Grade 12 Homeroom Ignites Winter Vitality

January 12, 2026

While the weather was chilly at the beginning of 2026, Grade 12 homeroom teachers organized an engaging game—homophone wordplay—during the P&B period. In the early morning, some students might still feel a little sleepy, but this activity helped wake up their brains for the day.

The teachers displayed a PPT with cute pictures and vibrant colors, and the students leaned forward, attracted and eager to put their brains to the test. What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie? So-fish-ticated! This play on the homophone of "sophisticated," which means "elegant or refined," and the silly twist that a bowtie-clad fish is elegant created lighthearted humor. The absurd yet clever connection elicited laughs around the homerooms.

The unexpected wit and shared laughter with friends created a positive vibe; meanwhile, the comedic pictures promoted the release of dopamine, improving one’s mood. This created a relaxed and pleasant moment that was perfect for the start of the day.
