Academic Competition: Bebras International Challenge on Informatics and Computational Thinking

January 16, 2026

In November 2025, our students participated in the Bebras International Challenge on Informatics and Computational Thinking (Bebras) either online or in their respective exam center.

Founded in 2004 by Prof. Valentina Dagienė (Vilnius University, former IOI President), the Bebras Challenge is a global educational event on computational thinking and informatics for youth. Modelled on Olympiads, national organisers form a global committee to jointly develop and select annual question pools. Aimed at sparking interest in computer science, it trains problem-solving with logical thinking—no programming required. Questions link to real life, making abstract concepts concrete, allowing students without coding experience to use logic, induction, and math skills. In the AI era, computational thinking— a bridge between math, AI, and programming— is increasingly prioritised in global education, with Bebras serving as a key initiative to support this.

A special shout out to the students from SHSID for their outstanding performance during the exam: they have won 3 Perfect Score, 10 National Top Gold, 11 National Gold Award, 12 National Silver Award, 12 National Bronze Award, 9 Proficiency Award.

Congratulations to all our award-winning students! We appreciate every student’s hard work and participation in this contest. May our students continue to demonstrate their excellence and sharpen their skills in the years to come, reaching for new heights of success!
