Pudong Campus: the Opening Ceremony of the Second Semester of 2025 Academic Year
On March 2rd, all teachers and students of the Pudong Campus of SHSID gathered in the auditorium for the Opening Ceremony of the Second Semester of the 2025 Academic Year. With anticipation and confidence, students embarked on a brand-new journey.
The ceremony began with a warm reflection on memorable moments from last semester, reminding everyone of the joy and perseverance behind each achievement.
Mr. Wu Xiaodong, Director of SHSID Pudong Campus, delivered a speech titled "The Power of the Year of the Horse and Growth." He emphasized that horses symbolize energy, resilience, and nobility, and encouraged students to cultivate three qualities this semester: Determination, Curiosity, and Community. First, embrace determination— face challenges with courage, take a deep breath, and try again. Second, stay curious— explore your classes, experiments, and art activities with wide-open eyes, always asking "why" and "how." Finally, focus on community— support each other, welcome new students, and treat the school as a caring herd. By bringing the horse's strength, curiosity, and care to this semester, he believes it will be full of growth and achievement.

Next, student representatives from each grade shared brief reflections. Martin from Grade 1 described his school life as a colorful puzzle built from activities and friendships. Candice from Grade 2 encouraged everyone to "Learn with Love" and grow through kindness and respect. Yinuo from Grade 3 compared learning to a Mario Kart race, sharing her self-motivation strategies and reminding peers to find their own pace. George from Grade 4 reflected on the challenges of transitioning into upper grades and introduced his three time-management strategies: removing distractions, breaking tasks into smaller parts, and focusing fully during lessons, while also maintaining balance through basketball and musical activities. Katherine from Grade 5 outlined her focused study habits, passion for reading, and independent exploration beyond the classroom. She also shared her experience serving the school as an ASB member, emphasizing that self-discipline and responsibility are key to long-term growth, and encouraged everyone to be "brave but not reckless, unique but not self-centered."

Amid enthusiastic applause, the ceremony concluded with a goal-sharing and award presentation session. Students voiced their aspirations for the semester ahead, filling the auditorium with optimism and determination. Certificates were presented to outstanding students, and the celebration ended in a joyful and inspiring atmosphere.

With spring in the air and the spirit of the Year of the Horse guiding the way, a new semester begins with renewed determination. The Opening Ceremony concluded successfully in a vibrant and hopeful atmosphere.
