Grade 12 Assembly: Sea Kayaking Adventure
On March 20, the seniors at SHSID attended their weekly assembly in the XMT Annex Auditorium. This week, Billy from Class 6 took the stage to share his unique experiences in athletics, delivering a presentation focused on endurance sports, scientific training, and his Bohai Sea kayaking adventure.

Billy first informed the students about endurance sports and their physical and mental benefits, then laid out the four golden rules of scientific training. He then shared his personal weekly running training plan and introduced sea kayaking as the ultimate challenge, sharing highlights of his Bohai trips—including seeing marine life and exploring unique sites—while stressing the sport’s high risks and the need for thorough preparation. In particular, Billy noted that his scientific training built the fitness foundation for his safe kayaking experience.
The key takeaway from Billy’s presentation is that science-based training, meticulous preparation, and a deep respect for nature’s unpredictable power are all essential aspects of outdoor exploration sports. This lesson, which offered practical advice for all students interested in their own nature explorations, reminded us that adventurous passion must always be balanced with caution and care.
