Stallions Triumph | Victory of the Rowing Team and Laser Shooting Team
In March 2024, the Stallions team from SHSID dominated the sports scene by winning the 2024 "Dream of Champions" elite rowing regatta, with the boys’ quadruple sculls team claiming the championship and the mixed quadruple sculls team securing third place. Simultaneously, at another competition, the National Laser Shooting Series’ spring online competition, the school's laser shooting team achieved historic bests in both individual and team events. Join us in celebrating their victories and passion for excellence.
Rowing Team's Debut Victory in 2024
On March 30, 2024, as the reverberations of our school's rowing team's remarkable performance in the 500-meter city dash at the Head of the Shanghai River Regatta on September 16th of the previous year still resonated, the SHSID rowing team received another invitation from the event’s organizers. This time, it was to participate in Shanghai’s 2024 "Dream of Champions", the new elite rowing regatta. Hosted by the Shanghai Pudong New Area Sports, Culture, and Tourism Bureau, along with the Shanghai International Tourism Resort Management Committee, this event featured 6 events across 5 categories, attracting a total of 30 teams to compete in the 1,000-meter race. It marked the school rowing team's inaugural participation in a major event since its official establishment this school year.
We are delighted to announce that our school's boys’ quadruple sculls team emerged victorious among ten youth teams, securing the championship title. Additionally, the mixed quadruple sculls achieved a commendable third-place finish in the youth category.
In recent years, our school has focused on enhancing students' competence and establishing diverse, high-level educational and extracurricular programs. This semester, with strong support from the principal's office, our rowing team was officially established. We invited a senior rowing coach from Xuhui District Youth Sports School to provide professional guidance. Rain or shine, our team members gather for training every Wednesday and Saturday, focusing on technique, conditioning, and tactics. This training regimen, with expert coaching and access to professional facilities, ensures high-quality preparation for showcasing their competitive prowess.
Laser Shooting Team Sets New National Records
From March 30-31, 2024, the National Laser Shooting Series’ spring online competition concluded successfully. Nearly 100 teams nationwide, with over 1,700 elite shooters, competed online. Our school's local and international divisions sent 44 team members for individual and team events, including pistol and rifle competitions across five age groups from U8 to U16, for both genders. Over two days of intense competition, our school achieved historic success in both categories.
In the individual events, in the U16 girls' category, Linda from SHSID clinched first place with a total score of 556-7x in the U16 girls' 10-meter laser-shooting pistol standing 60-shot event. In the U14 girls' category, student Fang secured third place in the U14 girls' 10-meter laser-shooting pistol standing 40-shot event.
In the team events, in the U16 girls' category, three girls secured first place in the team event for the U16 girls' 10-meter laser-shooting pistol standing 60-shot event. In the U12 boys' and girls' categories for the 10-meter laser-shooting pistol standing 20-shot event, both teams achieved third place.
Since the introduction of the laser shooting course in 2021, it has been a hit among students at SHSID. This time, our school's shooting team excelled in its debut at the national laser shooting series, building on previous municipal successes. This achievement is thanks to strong support from school leadership, collaboration among homeroom teachers, and the hard work of athletes and coaches.
These emerging sports are gaining traction at SHSID. Students are exerting themselves on different platforms, crafting their own impressive stories with determination. From rowing's daring ventures to shooting's precise duels, these activities not only build physical prowess but also foster teamwork and resilience. The implementation inspires passion for sports and enhances SHSID's sports culture.
