Grade 10 Assembly: Sparking the Light of Our Future

April 17, 2026

On the morning of April 15, SHSID Grade 10 students gathered in the ZXB Theater for the weekly grade assembly.

Coco and Joshua from Grade 10 took the stage to share their experiences with a business innovation competition (SPARK) they participated in the previous semester and over winter break. They shared about the different steps to approach a business concept, including target consumers, issue definition, market research, MVP, and so on. Images of the two rounds flashed across the screen as Coco shared about the concept development and video-editing during the preliminary round, throughout which team members challenged themselves in portraying the struggles of the product’s target consumers, then effectively introducing the team’s concept. Joshua followed with introducing the national presentation round, where the team faced high-pressure questioning from a panel of judges, commenting on everyone’s dedication to the competition.

The two speakers summed up their presentation by introducing the powerhouse behind these successful experiences: the SHSID Business Club. The club is backed by students passionate for the field of study and supported by a very encouraging community, which focuses on competition prep and other business-related activities such as business simulations and case studies.

After their SPARK presentation, another student from Grade 11 took the stage and shared about the upcoming Rhythm & Rhyme event held by The Bloomsbury Cat, inviting students to join the fun during lunch break to listen to poetry and piano accompaniment for a relaxing break during the school day.

Both groups of presenters passionately demonstrated their love and interest in sparking different aspects of life, ranging from skills in the business world to the craft in the artistic world.
