Stallions Rowing Team Shines Bright in First Competition
On March 30, 2024, the Stallions rowing team was invited to join the 2024 “Dream of Champions” New Rowing Elite Regatta, the first large-scale competition after the team’s official establishment. Ultimately, Stallions rowing team’s boys’ quadruple sculls stood out among the ten teams in the youth group and won the championship, while the mixed quadruple sculls finished in third place.
During the race, the team members demonstrated full commitment and perseverance. In the Boys' Quadruple Sculls race against Harrow International School Shanghai, four team members gained an advantage with their faster speed at the very start of the race and maintained this advantage with absolute strength and a united mindset despite Harrow’s fierce catch-up. Eventually, the Stallions managed to out-compete them, winning first place in the race with an exceptional total time of 3'34''92. In the mixed quadruple sculls, the four team members gave their best effort in the race even during the times when they were at a disadvantage, and finally won third place in the race.
In recent years, Shanghai High School International Division has been providing a versatile and well-rounded education and activity platform for the students. At the beginning of this semester, with the full support and careful guidance of the principal's office, Stallions rowing team was formally established. The school hired an experienced, professional coach to provide a full range of guidance and assistance. Twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, school rowing team members train vigorously for technical, physical, and tactical improvements. It was those persistent training sessions that established a solid foundation for the players to excel at in the games.
Rowing builds students’ physical fitness, expands students' international perspectives, and cultivates a strong foundation of team spirit. Our rowing team will continue their diligent training, looking forward to the next time they hit the water, representing the Stallions in their blue and gold.
