Hongkou Campus: Celebrating a Month of Reading: A Beautiful Bouquet of Books! Wrapping up Reading Wonderland Month with Family, Non-Fiction, and Final Projects!
Watching Our Love for Reading Flourish!
What an incredible month of growth and imagination! As Reading Wonderland Month comes to a close at the Hongkou Campus, we look back at the past four weeks filled with imaginative literary adventures, confident stage expressions, and joyous laughter at our reading tea parties. We are so proud of the vibrant literary community our students, teachers, and parents have cultivated together. This is not just the conclusion of an event, but the beautiful beginning of a lifelong love for reading truly taking root in our children's hearts.
Celebrating Family Reading Night
Learning doesn't stop at the school gates! Early this week, our teachers' inboxes were flooded with heartwarming videos of our students and their families cozying up on comfortable sofas or by the window, reading together in the gentle spring breeze. There were no complicated tasks—just the pure joy of companionship. Thank you, SHSID families, for keeping the magic of storytelling alive and seamlessly weaving it into your daily lives at home!
Final Genre Spotlight: The Fascinating World of Non-Fiction
Following our journeys through magical fantasy forests and relatable realistic fiction, we shifted our focus in this final week to the vast wonders of the real world. Our final genre spotlight is Non-Fiction! Coincidentally, this week is also our school's Chinese Culture Week. In the Grade 1 classrooms, students listened attentively as their teachers read Forbidden City aloud, beautifully blending the factual exploration of non-fiction with the rich heritage of traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, during their "Reading Buddies" sessions, Grade 2 and 3 students eagerly shared the natural phenomena and encyclopedic wonders they discovered in their non-fiction picks. As it turns out, the power of the real world holds a fascinating magic all its own!

Harvest Time: Academic Achievements
All the hard work of planting and nurturing has finally brought a bountiful harvest! Our reading goals, set at the beginning of the month, have truly come to fruition. Our Grade 1 students successfully completed their "Good Books are Blooming" Reading Journals, with every page recording their steadfast reading footsteps. Furthermore, our Grade 2 and 3 scholars proudly submitted their "Bouquet of Books"—a collection of comprehensive book reports spanning the fantasy, realistic fiction, and non-fiction genres, showcasing their solid reading skills.

In the final stage of the event, students quietly filled out reflections in their reading journals to share their reading experiences. They reminisced about the touching moments from their books, mapped out their reading journeys, and, amidst a true sense of accomplishment, met the slightly more grown-up version of themselves.
Congratulations to all our young readers on co-creating such a fantastic Reading Wonderland Month!
Keep discovering. Keep dreaming. Keep reading.
