Grade 10 Assembly：Seven Names, One Heart

On May 27, Grade 10 students gathered at the B1 Theater of Zhongxing Building for this week's assembly. After a brief announcement of daily notices, a student from the local division gave a presentation on the history of Shanghai High School.


Centered on the theme “Seven names, One heart”, the presentation led students through the school’s 161 years of development. Founded as Longmen Academy in 1865, it adopted practical education and offered modern science courses, including mathematics and physics. In 1905, it was renamed Longmen Normal School, and in the 20th century it underwent several further name changes, including the Second Normal School of Jiangsu Province and, finally, Shanghai High School. Each change mirrored the school’s dedication to advancing alongside the nation and serving the community.


Towards the end of the sharing, he encouraged students to improve themselves, embrace the world, and serve the country with knowledge and innovation, which carries forward the school’s long-standing educational philosophy. This presentation not only helped students learn about the history behind their school’s different names, but also allowed them to truly feel the spirit passed down from generation to generation.
