Grade 11: Tug-of-War Competition

The early summer sun shone down on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 13, as the grass field outside Zhongxing Building came alive with excitement for the annual Tug-of-War Competition.



The competition was organized by class, with each class sending two teams of four students to participate. At the sound of the referee’s whistle, the octagonal rope tightened instantly as competitors gripped the ropes firmly and leaned back with all their strength, their feet digging deep into the grass. From the sidelines, waves of encouragement and applause filled the air, adding even more energy to the lively atmosphere.





Unlike a traditional tug-of-war match, this event also incorporated a series of fun challenge stations. Contestants were required not only to demonstrate strength, but also speed, coordination, and teamwork. At the stations, some students hurried to blow up balloons and tie them securely; others carefully arranged colored pens in the correct rainbow order. Some focused intently on tracing the outline of a panda while being pulled away by teammates, while others raced to toss little rubber ducks into a designated circle. The hilarious yet nervous excitement was contagious.


Teammates encouraged one another from the sidelines, while referees ensured fair play throughout each round. Some students stumbled and fell during the intense matches, sparking bursts of laughter, only to jump back up and continue competing moments later.








As the competition came to an end, cheers still lingered across the field.  The activity not only brought students together through friendly rivalry, but also created a memorable afternoon of cooperation and enthusiasm.
