Grade 10 Assembly: M&M Cookie Workshop and Baking Club

June 5, 2026

On June 3, two students from 10(5) introduced a cookie business that they co-founded a year ago – M&M Cookie Workshop. Starting with only 20 cookies sold to high school students in Shanghai, their workshop gradually expanded to bake more than 80 cookies and ship them all over China. Using the profit made, they started Crumble Cooks! Bakery, the only baking club at SHSID named after the American brand Crumbl. The club provided all students who are passionate in baking and food sciences a platform to engage in fun workshops, in which the two club leaders taught them useful skills such as how to frost sugar cookies. The club also launched multiple charity programs outside of school. Last September, they co-hosted a charity baking workshop with Echovision and the Changqiao Community Organization of Disabled Persons, teaching visually impaired individuals how to bake chocolate chip cookies.

Although starting a business as high school students is challenging, both students believe that turning their passions into an entrepreneurial project is an extremely fulfilling process. The most important lesson they learned throughout the past year is to always turn the smallest sparks of an idea into a real project – because what if it actually works out?
