High School Chinese Department: Chinese Handwriting Competition – Every Stroke Speaks of Passion

In order to enhance everyone’s awareness of the importance of handwriting, as well as to showcase the beautiful handwriting of our students, the High School Chinese Department recently held a Chinese Handwriting Competition.



During the competition, students wrote poems and literary pieces in their favorite calligraphy styles. Some wrote in a delicate and elegant manner, some displayed a bold and powerful style, and others, though not exceptionally beautiful, presented their work neatly and cleanly. All these pieces fully reflected the serious attitude of every student and their respect for Chinese character writing, and also showed us the vibrant vitality of Chinese characters under the pens of the younger generation.



On June 5th, during the MIX DAY event, the Chinese Department specially added a soft-brush calligraphy experience session, giving students who are usually accustomed to hard-tip pens a chance to feel the softness and strength of the brush. Soft-brush calligraphy, as a unique cultural form, carries a thousand years of aesthetics and spirit. At the event, some students who had learned calligraphy since elementary school voluntarily became “little teachers,” enthusiastically guiding others on how to hold and move the brush. The scene was filled with the fragrance of ink and a joyful, harmonious atmosphere.



In daily teaching, our teachers have always emphasized the comprehensive development of students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. In addition to this writing competition, the Chinese Department has previously held reading sharing sessions, storytelling competitions, and other activities, exercising students’ language abilities from different dimensions. In the future, the Chinese Department will also organize more content-rich and lively activities, encouraging everyone to actively participate and experience the beauty and richness of the Chinese language from multiple dimensions.
