Middle School Physics Department: 2026 PhysicsBowl competition

June 9, 2026

The results of the 2026 PhysicsBowl competition, held in March, have been recently released. Our students achieved outstanding results.

Organized by the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), PhysicsBowl is a world-renowned physics assessment for secondary school students with great global influence and recognition. Administered simultaneously in more than 50 countries and regions, the competition adopts a unified ranking system and presents highly prestigious awards. Its exam questions cover mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optics, and modern physics, comprehensively evaluating students' foundational physics knowledge, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. As an authoritative international event, it serves as a solid testament to students' academic strengths and enriches their academic portfolios.

The competition consists of two divisions. Division 1 is designed for Grade 10 students (IB Year 10, outstanding A-Level Year 1 students, and A-Level Year 2 students). Division 2 is the advanced division with a higher difficulty level, targeting Grade 11 and 12 students (IB Years 11–12 and senior A-Level students). All our Grade 7 and Grade 8 students took part in Division 1 this year. The competition awards include National Top Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention.

Our participants won 2 National Top Gold awards, 2 Gold awards, 1 Silver award, 1 Bronze award, and 4 Honorable Mentions. Six students have also successfully qualified for the PhysicsBowl Asia Camp.

Congratulations to all award recipients, and thank every participant for their hard work. We wish all students continued progress and outstanding performances in future international academic competitions!
