Grade 12 Assembly: Capturing Birds’ Beauty

On April 29, Amy Sun from Class 12-9 gave a speech about bird photography at our grade assembly.



Amy covered pre-shooting planning, composition, light & location choices, species-based shooting skills and camera settings. She plans frames in advance: high angles show full landscapes, while low eye-level shots highlight birds. Early mornings and late afternoons are ideal for soft light, while harsh midday sun should be avoided. Familiar shooting spots help create more creative works.



She emphasized tailored shooting methods: highlighting birds’ physical features, capturing feeding and mating behaviors, and using eye-level or silhouette shots to show each bird’s unique vibe. She also said bird photography is an interdisciplinary hobby that develops artistic taste and environmental awareness, letting people reconnect with nature via sight and sound. She displayed her photos of black-faced spoonbill and white wagtail during the talk. The sharing helped students appreciate wildlife photography and learn to observe and protect wild birds.
