Lin’gang Campus: the 2026 National Youth Canoeing U-Series League

The 2026 National Youth Canoeing U-Series League recently kicked off at the Dongfanghong Reservoir in Putang National Resort Park, Ma'anshan, Anhui Province. Co-hosted by the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Canoeing Association, and the Anhui Provincial Sports Bureau, the event brought together young kayaking talents from across the country. For SHSID Lin'gang Campus, this was also the largest contingent of participants the school has ever sent to a competition.







During a break in the competition, a lively quiz session captured the children's attention. The host asked, "Should kayaking take place on flat water or whitewater?" Hands shot up as the children eagerly shouted out what they had learned in their school kayaking classes. Then came another question: "In 1936, kayaking made its Olympic debut. Which city hosted those Games?" When the answer – "Berlin, Germany" – was revealed, the children nodded softly, their eyes sparkling with the joy of learning something new.







The most heartwarming moment came during the family canoe event. "One, two! One, two!" The children became little coaches, sitting at the bow or stern, passing on paddling techniques learned in class to their parents beside them. Amid splashing water, parents and children paddled side by side, laughter and cheers weaving together into the most beautiful melody on the lake.


The third-grade participants in this competition are about to say goodbye to Lin'gang and move to the Puxi Campus to begin a new chapter. For the second-graders competing on a national stage for the first time, this was not just a debut – it was also a meaningful passing of the torch. They are taking up the paddle from their older peers and are ready to write the next chapter.

Katherine's father, an experienced "veteran parent," helped answer questions and share important reminders with the first-time young athletes before the competition. Speaking of his daughter's upcoming move to the Puxi Campus for fourth grade, he shared that even after leaving Lin'gang, Katherine will continue to pursue her passion for kayaking. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Lin'gang Campus for offering the kayaking program, allowing more children to discover their own love for sports and nature in the great outdoors.



After the competition, the children returned home with honors. The school prepared a special award ceremony at the very dock where they train every day. No grand stage – only the familiar lake breeze and shimmering water. Under the sunlight, medals glistened brightly, reflecting faces filled with both sweat and smiles. This ceremony was not a tribute to the medals themselves, but to the children's courage, perseverance, and the teamwork that accompanied them every step of the way.


Young paddlers, chasing their dreams on the water. May the resilience and passion they have learned on the lake carry them toward an even broader future.
