June 30, 2026

On June 4, the Sixth-Grade Arts Festival, themed "Unleash Talent, Light Up the Stage," kicked off joyfully in the His Building auditorium. With a seamless, enthusiastic opening address from the student hosts, the artistic extravaganza officially began. The performance was filled with one highlight after another, blending classic elegance with modern vitality, showcasing individual brilliance alongside the warmth of teamwork. Through song, dance, music, and passion, the students left a moving mark on their childhood.

Songs Soared, Childhood Hearts Bloomed

Songs are the most direct expression of youth, and every piece conveyed the warmth and spirit of growing up. The chorus "When I Grow Up" kicked off the program. Charlotte, Renee, and Ten Sakurai from Class 6(6), along with Elena from Class 6(4), sang of their boundless aspirations for the future with crystal-clear voices, their innocent wishes gently floating on the melody. Leon from Class 6(3) performed "Legends Never Die," and his powerful, resonant vocals ignited the audience's passion. Melody from Class 6(2) presented "Reflection," her moving voice narrating the self-reflection and perseverance along the path of growth. Bella from Class 6(6) delivered "How Far I'll Go" with the vastness of the ocean, conveying courage and a spirit of exploration to every listener. Alice from Class 6(9) sang the Cantonese song "Strong," expressing deep affection and gratitude for her father. The duet "Proud of You" by Chloe and Sophia from Class 6(8) was equally heartwarming, letting gratitude and confidence flow through the notes. Finally, all students in Class 6(10) sang "Believer" in unison. Their harmonious and powerful voices brought the atmosphere to a climax, showcasing a spirited and uplifting spirit.

Graceful Movements, Each Shining in Their Own Way

Dance is poetry in motion, and every dance style leaves a unique mark on the stage. Nora from Class 6(1) opened the show with the ballet "Pharaoh's Daughter, Girl Variation." With her light footwork and elegant posture, she showcased the refinement and nobility of classical ballet. In the classical dance "Song of the Yue Girl", Evelyn from Class 6(12) portrayed the clear, lively, and charming spirit of a young woman from the Wu and Yue regions. The modern dance duet "Clouds", performed by Ten Sakurai (Class 6) and Emma (Class 2), used fluid body language to depict the freedom and ever-changing nature of drifting clouds. The Xinjiang dance "Spinning, Spinning, Spinning" was rich in ethnic flavor; Cynthia (Class 2), with her rapidly spinning skirt and lively gaze, seemed to transport the audience to the foot of the Tianshan Mountains. Additionally, the dance "Realligator", performed by six students-6(8) Brian Zhang, Doris, Jean, Chloe, Brian Lu, and Zoey-was bursting with energy. The fusion of street dance elements and upbeat rhythms complemented each other perfectly, showcasing the students' sunny, carefree spirit and boundless youth.

Melodious Instrumental Music, Enduring Musical Charm

In the instrumental performances, melodies from various instruments converged to create a unique harmony. The flute and piano ensemble "Shostakovich's Second Waltz," performed by Dora (Class 3), Robin (Class 10), Regina, and Mia (Class 12), was utterly captivating. The flute's lyrical tones intertwined with the piano's rich resonance, weaving a tapestry of Russian-inspired romance and melancholy. The violin and piano duet "Violin Concerto No. 3 in B Minor, Op. 61", performed by 6(12) Mia and 6(11) Alyssa, showcased perfect synergy. The melody, at times passionate and at times delicate, demonstrated the performers' solid technical skills. The instrumental ensemble performance of "Do Re Mi," performed by Elias and Joanna from Class 6(7), Lawrence from Class 6(3), and Emma from Class 6(11), used simple, joyful notes to take everyone back to the beauty of their musical beginnings. As the audience and performers hummed along together, the auditorium instantly transformed into a sea of joy.

Language and Martial Arts: A Perfect Blend of Culture and Combat

In addition to song, dance, and instrumental music, language and martial arts performances added a touch of both the soft and the hard to the stage, capturing the essence of Chinese culture. The oratory performance "A New Version of Wu Song Beating the Tiger" was uniquely inventive. 6(4) Ryan used a vivid storytelling tone and wildly imaginative interpretation to create a playful collision between ancient and modern culture, leaving the audience in stitches and cheering enthusiastically. The Tai Chi performance "Chen Style 56-Form Tai Chi" blended strength and grace. Angelina from Class 6(9), calm and composed, executed each move with the fluidity of flowing clouds and water. Her seamless transitions fully showcased the depth and composure of Chinese martial arts, earning thunderous applause from the audience.

Family on Stage, Warmth Shared Between Teachers and Students

Among all the performances, a special duo presented a deeply moving moment: Frank from Class 6(9) and his mother collaborated on a guitar-accompanied rendition of "You Are Still the One," singing of the deep affection and mutual support between mother and son. Isn't the best education found precisely in such sincere companionship and shared resonance? The teachers' performance closed the show with a chorus of "Wish Sticky Notes + I Love You." The familiar melodies, paired with the teachers' playful movements, sparked sing-alongs and cheers from the entire audience; the dance "I Love You" took the atmosphere to a fever pitch, with its lively steps and radiant smiles allowing students to see their "big friends" shining brightly beyond the classroom.

In addition to the spectacular performances, the event featured three rounds of exciting lucky draws. Mrs. Cheng Liyan, Head of the Sixth Grade; Mr. Guo Lei, Deputy Head of the Sixth Grade; and Mr. Klimmek, Deputy Head of the Sixth Grade, took turns announcing the lucky audience members, who each received a hefty Wangwang gift package! This unexpected sweet gift added a tangible sense of joy and good fortune to the Arts Festival.

The Arts Festival came to a close amid sustained applause. Each performance was a shining star, coming together to form the brightest galaxy in the hearts of the sixth-grade students. May this love for the arts and the courage to grow accompany them as they step into a brighter tomorrow.
