Pudong Campus: Social First Class— Freshmen Friendship Activity

As autumn arrives, with sweet osmanthus fragrance, the Grade 1 classrooms of SHSID Pudong Campus are filled with vibrant colors and cheerful laughter. Newly enrolled primary students embarked on an exclusive "Find My Match" friendship journey with their self-designed "All About Me" posters. As a featured part of the Grade 1 orientation, this  activity helps children ease into a new collective, integrate into the class atmosphere effortlessly, and build a warm and united community together.


Sitting in Groups, Unlocking Pure Friendship Codes

The first session "Friends in the Group" kicked off warmly. Sitting around tables, children took turns presenting their posters and sharing their hobbies in tender voices. From "I love drawing dinosaurs the most!" to "I play football in the park on weekends!" and "Strawberry ice cream is my favorite!", every remark was full of childlike innocence. Whenever two children found common interests, their eyes lit up, and they exclaimed in unison, "Me too! We are friends!" The shy looks on their faces faded instantly, replaced by bright smiles of joy at meeting like-minded peers.





Poster Tour, Let Friendship Bloom from Paper to Reality

The next session "Friends in the Class" deepened the bond of friendship. The students’  elaborately designed self-introduction posters were neatly displayed in the classroom cabinets. Holding pencils, the children browsed each poster carefully and signed their names beside the ones with shared hobbies. Soon, the blank spaces of the posters were filled with childish signatures. Guided by teachers, children found the peers who had signed their posters the most and greeted each other. The spiritual resonance on paper turned into face-to-face smiles, sowing tiny seeds of friendship in every child’s heart.









Cross-class Exploration, Expanding Peer Social Circles

The most popular session "Friends in the Grade" brought endless joy to the children through cross-class interaction. Freshmen from the two parallel classes lined up neatly, held blank friendship cards, and walked into each other’s classrooms with great curiosity. Wandering among the colorful poster walls, they searched for new like-minded friends and signed on each other’s friendship cards. Their small social circles broke through class boundaries and expanded to the entire grade. By the end of the session, their friendship cards were full of new names, and every child wore a  delighted smile from making new friends.







Grade Interaction, Passing on Warmth and Kindness

During the lunch break, the festivities on campus continued. Grade 3 senior students took the initiative to accompany the Grade 1 freshmen, guiding them to explore the campus and play interesting games. Their company passed on kindness, helping new students adapt to campus life and integrate into the big school family more quickly.







At the end of the activity, teachers presented a carefully prepared "Small Acts of Friendship List", guiding students to deepen their friendships through warm daily interactions: wearing clothes of the same color to school, sharing favorite stories, and taking the initiative to team up in group activities. Holding friendship cards filled with new friends’ names, the children kept these pure promises in mind. Abandoning rigid self-introduction routines, this immersive friendship activity takes children’s handmade posters as a link and shared hobbies as a bridge, enabling every freshman to find kindred spirits and gain warm spiritual resonance effortlessly.


This featured friendship activity serves not only as a social enlightenment class for freshmen, but also a window for parents to witness their children’s growth on campus. Every signed poster and heartfelt friendship card records the children’s courage to break through themselves and embrace the new collective. In the days ahead, these friends who bonded over sincere resonance will grow up together, turning this wonderful first encounter in early autumn into the warmest and most precious memory of their primary school years.
