Puxi Campus G1-3: 2026 Opening Ceremony
On the morning of September 1st, teachers and students from Grades 1-3 of SHSID Puxi Campus gathered in the auditorium for the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 School Year First Semester, accompanied by cheerful music. Ms. Zhang Yi, Director of SHSID Puxi Campus Grade 1-3, hosted the ceremony in a warm and lively atmosphere.
The ceremony began with Ms. Zhang Yi officially declaring the opening ceremony underway and welcoming the new students. The children joining SHSID for the first time rose and waved amid applause, joining the SHSID family. Group photos of all classes were then shown on the big screen — whether first graders or returning students from Grades 2 and 3, every face beamed with bright smiles. These smiling portraits traced the division's journey of growth.
Teachers and students then watched a video of the faculty and staff team, expressing sincere gratitude to the staff who had worked tirelessly to prepare for the new semester.
Four student representatives from the two sessions then took the stage to share their growth stories.
Anna, from Class 3-5, spoke on becoming an independent learner. She shared her personal approach: making plans, starting with easier tasks, reviewing her work carefully, reflecting on mistakes, and sticking to previewing and reviewing. Through these effective strategies, she gradually learned to take responsibility for her own learning.
Matthew, from Class 3-1, shared the "Power of YET," drawing on his repeated failures in Go rankings and his steady improvement in swim team personal bests to encourage his peers to embrace challenges as steppingstones to growth.
Ariel, from Class 2-8, shared how her "lazy" mom guided her to think independently. She learned to make problem lists and find answers all on her own, while using the Linked Classroom website for time management. She also showed her handmade review booklet that makes studying fun and effective.
Percy, from Class 2-5, drew on his CME class experiences, recounting how his group turned a chaotic dubbing performance during Chinese Culture Week into a harmonious collaboration. He noted that, in the age of AI, courage, responsibility, and kindness are irreplaceable human qualities.
After the speeches, all attendees watched the "Division Highlights" video, which brought back wonderful memories of Sports Week, the Art Festival, Science Season, and Culture Week from the previous semester — while laughter and warm recollections filled the hall.
Following that came the exciting awards segment. Chinese and foreign homeroom teachers announced the "Eight Stars" winners from the previous semester, recognizing students who excelled in various areas. Ms. Zhang Yi then presented trophies to the classes receiving the "Golden Cup Challenge" honor, encouraging all classes to strive forward in the new term.
Ms. Zhang Yi concluded by offering the students "five little secrets" for the new semester: start with small steps, embrace imperfection, adopt a growth mindset, persist through difficulties, and be the reason someone smiles. She wished everyone a year of growing wisdom, warmer hearts, and stronger courage — to dream boldly and enjoy this wonderful journey of growth.
The ceremony came to a heartwarming close with a video of teachers' blessings for the new semester. The children stepped into the new term with anticipation and confidence. The Grades 1-3 section looks forward to working hand in hand with all teachers, students, and parents to create another fulfilling and wonderful semester together!
