Grade 12: Graduates Shared Study Abroad Experiences
During 7th period on March 20, five SHSID graduates from different countries were invited to share their insights and experiences regarding their college lives. Amy, who graduated from Toronto and completed her master’s degree at Yale, is currently working at a finance office. She cautioned students who are going to Canada to prepare warm clothing. She also reminded students to take advantage of summer vacations to prepare for internships and introduced various ways to find job opportunities. Lucy and Mike are currently freshmen at UCLA and NYU, respectively. They both agreed that the United States are actually safe and convenient to travel around. Lucy commented on UCLA’s top-tier cafeteria and the rich social circle around the campus, while Mike focused on how to build connections in college. He believes joining student organizations is crucial to acquiring information and support at schools. Next, Alex from HKU commented on Hong Kong’s environment. Dorms at HKU are competitive to apply to, but are the foundation for building social circles. Winnie, who is currently at UCL, finished off by advising students with their dream schools in England to prepare cooking utensils and practice their cooking skills.
As the information session ended, students’ many questions about their future college life got answered, and they became more confident to embark on their future journeys in college.
