Psychology Group and ASB Collaborated on the "First Week, Last Day" Lunchtime Activity
On September 7, 2026, the High School Psychology Group, in collaboration with the Associated Student Body (ASB), organized the "First Week, Last Day" themed lunchtime activity. The event was designed to provide students with a relaxing and enjoyable break at the end of a busy first week of school, allowing them to step away briefly from the demands of their academic routines and experience a positive emotional reset.
During the event, psychology teachers and ASB members prepared a variety of free snacks and beverages for students and introduced them to the Psychology Group's newly redesigned interactive display. Through these informal and engaging activities, students were encouraged to take a moment to reflect on their emotional well-being, while also discovering positive and enjoyable experiences within their everyday school life.

The centerpiece of the display was a mirror in the shape of a thumbs-up symbol, surrounded by positive words beginning with each of the 26 letters of the English alphabet, including Insightful, Bold, and Mindful. As students stood in front of the mirror, they were invited to associate themselves with these positive qualities and to view and evaluate themselves from a more objective and affirming perspective.

The design incorporates the psychological concept of self-affirmation. Appropriate positive self-talk, together with attention to one's own strengths and personal qualities, can support a stronger sense of self-worth and contribute to the development of a healthier and more stable self-concept. Through this simple interactive design, we hope to encourage students to recognize that everyone possesses qualities that are worthy of being seen, valued, and affirmed.
Below the main display, the Psychology Group also created a "Take What You Need" interactive section featuring a collection of small surprise paper bags. Students were invited to randomly select a bag and discover an encouraging message inside. The messages consisted primarily of brief affirmations and reminders, such as "When things feel overwhelming, pause & breathe." and "Resilience is like a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it gets."

These brief messages were not intended to directly solve the challenges students may face. Rather, they were designed to offer a small pause within the demands of everyday school life—a moment to stop, regroup, and reconnect with oneself. When challenges begin to feel overwhelming, even something as simple as taking a deep breath or offering oneself a gentle reminder can create space to regain a sense of balance and strength. Through this light and accessible form of interaction, we hope to integrate mental health education into familiar aspects of students' daily school experience and encourage the habits of paying attention to oneself, encouraging oneself, and taking care of oneself as a natural and sustainable part of everyday life.
The "First Week, Last Day" activity was more than a simple lunchtime event; it also represented an effort by the Psychology Group to integrate mental health education into the broader school culture. Moving forward, the Psychology Group will continue to provide students with opportunities to engage with psychological knowledge, express their emotions, and access support through activities that are approachable, open, and participatory, contributing to a warmer, healthier, and more supportive school environment.
