Pudong Campus: Successful Fire Evacuation Drill
On the morning of September 17, Shanghai High School International Division Pudong Campus organised a fire emergency evacuation drill for all teachers and students from Grade 1 to Grade 5. As a key measure of campus safety education, the drill aimed to strengthen teachers’ and students’ awareness of fire safety, improve their ability to respond to sudden fires and take coordinated emergency shelter measures, test the practical effectiveness of the campus emergency response plan, and consolidate the foundation for building a safe campus.

When the fire alarm sounded, homeroom teachers quickly took up their posts and gave orderly instructions, guiding students to evacuate rapidly along pre-set routes. During the drill, all students strictly followed safety protocols: bending low and covering their noses while moving in order, without pushing or lingering. Within 2 minutes, all teachers and students quickly evacuated to the designated assembly point on the playground. Each class counted its members right away and confirmed full attendance with class signs to verify that no one was left behind. After all classes submitted their reports, the evacuation drill was successfully concluded.

Following the drill, each class held a review session. Teachers acknowledged the prompt responses and standard operations of teachers and students, and put forward requirements for improvements regarding details such as evacuation spacing and headcounts efficiency. Through review and reflection, teachers and students further reinforced their fire safety knowledge and emergency escape skills. Students shared reflections based on their firsthand experience. They stated that the realistic drill helped them master escape techniques proficiently, gain a deep understanding of the importance of staying calm in emergencies, and effectively improve their self-rescue capabilities.

This drill further refined the school’s emergency management system and enhanced the ability of teachers and students to avoid hazards and save themselves. Moving forward, the school will continue to carry out safety education and emergency drills on a regular basis, steadily reinforce the campus safety barrier, and protect the safety of teachers and students as a routine practice.
