Grade 10: Assembly — Pursuing the Love for Music
On March 20, grade 10 students gathered in the Lecture Hall for their weekly assembly. Yet amidst routine updates on upcoming college visits and PA lectures, the atmosphere took an eccentric turn when two IB music students stepped onto the stage. Capturing the attention of the audience, the duo embarked on an enlightening presentation, shedding light on the intricacies of the IB music curriculum and sharing their personal experience with the course. With a blend of enthusiasm and expertise, they delved into the nuances of music theory, composition techniques, and performance assessments, offering invaluable insights into the rigors and rewards of pursuing music at such an advanced level. They recounted tales of creative exploration and academic growth, sparking curiosity and igniting a newfound interest in the IB music program within the sophomores. At the end of their presentation, the grade director Ms. Yu left an inspiring message, explaining that the purpose of course selection is not to create a homogenous class but rather to allow everybody to pursue their own interests, however unique. On that hopeful note, applause rang across the room.
