Puxi Campus G7-8 | 2024 WMUN
From March 1st to March 3rd, 2024, 7th and 8th grade students from SHSID, along with members of MUN organizations from several international schools in Shanghai, collectively participated in the 2024 WMUN. At this event, the students were required to demonstrate proficient communication, collaboration, negotiation, and leadership skills throughout the process of working together to resolve international disputes.
The theme for this competition was “Turning Back the Doomsday Clock”. Created in 1948, the Doomsday Clock is a symbol of humanity’s proximity to global catastrophe. It is a continuous reminder of the existential threats that still face us. The students from SHSID were incredibly active and willing to participate within each and every one of their diverse committees.
All of the students performed outstandingly,, an impressive nine awards were won. Best Delegate awards were earned by7-10 Leo, 8-2 Alfie , 8-6 Sophie , 8-8 Chloe and 8-11 Eleanor Outstanding Delegate awards were presented to 8-8 Alexandra and 8-5 Edwin Finally, congratulations to our two Honorable Mentions,7-7 Oscar and 8-4 Sophie. All attending students gave a plethora of speeches, submitted and passed a multitude of amendments, and raised an impressive number of questions.
Over the course of the two-day event, these students worked tirelessly to provide insightful ideas with exemplary quality and write or contribute to resolutions, gaining plenty of experience for future club meetings and conferences, becoming more knowledgeable in fields of global dilemmas. They engaged in independent critical thinking on humanistic issues, preparing themselves to become more knowledgeable global citizens.
